چکیده

This paper presents an integrated image fusion and match score fusion of multispectral face images. The fusion of visible and long wave infrared face images is performed using 2ν-Granular SVM which uses multiple SVMs to learn both the local and global properties of the multispectral face images at different granularity levels and resolution. The 2ν-GSVM performs accurate classification which is subsequently used to dynamically compute the weights of visible and infrared images for generating a fused face image. 2D log polar Gabor transform and local binary pattern feature extraction algorithms are applied to the fused face image to extract global and local facial features respectively. The corresponding match scores are fused using Dezert Smarandache theory of fusion which is based on plausible and paradoxical reasoning. The efficacy of the proposed algorithm is validated using the Notre Dame and Equinox databases and is compared with existing statistical, learning, and evidence theory based fusion algorithms.

Fusion of Thermal Infrared and Visible Images Based on Multi-scale Transform and Sparse Representation

Due to the differences between the visible and thermal infrared images, combination of these two types of images is essential for better understanding the characteristics of targets and the environment. Thermal infrared images have most importance to distinguish targets from the background based on the radiation differences, which work well in all-weather and day/night conditions also in land s...

Non-rigid visible and infrared face registration via regularized Gaussian fields criterion

Registration of multi-sensor data (particularly visible color sensors and infrared sensors) is a prerequisite for multimodal image analysis such as image fusion. Typically, the relationships between image pairs are modeled by rigid or affine transformations. However, this cannot produce accurate alignments when the scenes are not planar, for example, face images. In this paper, we propose a reg...

Hierarchical fusion of multi-spectral face images for improved recognition performance

This paper presents a two level hierarchical fusion of face images captured under visible and infrared light spectrum to improve the performance of face recognition. At image level fusion, two face images from different spectrums are fused using DWT based fusion algorithm. At feature level fusion, the amplitude and phase features are extracted from the fused image using 2D log polar Gabor wavel...

Chapter XIX: Multi-Modal Biometrics Fusion for Human Recognition in Video

This chapter introduces a new video based recognition system to recognize non-cooperating individuals at a distance in video, who expose side views to the camera. Information from two biometric sources, side face and gait, is utilized and integrated for recognition. For side face, an Enhanced Side Face Image (ESFI), a higher resolution image compared with the image directly obtained from a sing...

Comparison of Near Infrared And Visible Image Fusion Methods

Visible images are usually merged with midrange infrared images for surveillance enhancement or for non visual tasks like face recognition. The IR images contain information that is not the same as in the visible range images. We test fusion of near infrared images with visible spectrum images for detail enhancement and contrast highlighting using several quality metrics. It is shown that compu...
